Frequently Asked Questions
What do Pencil Heads do?
Good question! Well, above all, Pencil Heads have fun. Think of each session as a vacation for your imagination. We come together once a week to write and play imagination and improvisation games.
What if I’ve never written before?
No problemo. You know how to hold a pencil, right? Great! Then we’re pretty sure you’ve got something to say. And we’re experts at helping you find your voice. Plus, we have lots of paper and pens.
What if I don’t have any ideas?
That’s what the workshop is for. We have lots of fun games, ideas and imagination exercises to get you started.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself, your imagination, and the hand you use to write with (though your other hand is welcome to come, too). We’ll supply the paper, pencils, and games to get you going.
Do I have to read what I write in front of other people?
Only if you want to! Some Pencil Heads like to share their work, and some don’t—it’s entirely up to you. But there is a very good chance you’ll be so proud of what you have written that you will want to share it with the world.
Do my parents need to be involved?
At the end of each class, we’ll have a staged reading, where you and your fans will have the opportunity to hear your work read aloud. We would love for your parents to attend—and maybe even participate. (Hey, we’re dying to meet the people who created the genius writer, otherwise known as YOU!)
